Hasbro Star Wars The Black Series Gaming Greats 6 Inch Action Figure Exclusive – Jango Fett (Shelf Wear Packaging)
“Expensive but Definitely Worth It!”
Our Rating: 5
You may be a fan of Mandalorian warriors riding a jetpack or you’re one of those Star Wars fans that simply like a toy with exquisite features.
Either way, this Jango Fett Gamestop release should be a must-buy.
Holding the Suspense
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves, and you know we here at Shrunk Collectibles love to build up to a thrilling conclusion.
So, enough of the introductions and let’s dive straight into this GamestopJango Fett toy.
It will surely bring you back to a more innocent time when George Lucas still owned the SW franchise and the not-so innocent creation of Jar Jar Binks.
Premium deco Or…?
First and foremost, this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop figure belongs to the 6” Black Series line by Hasbro.
That line is pretty much the cream of the crop when it comes to quality and articulation as far as Hasbro figures are concerned.
So, you can definitely expect the overall quality of this Star Wars Black Series Gaming Greats Jango Fett toy to be better than Hasbro’s regular SW figures.
But they’re a step down (obviously) compared to 3rd party releases like, say, Mafex or S.H. Figuarts.
This is also a Gamestop exclusive Jango Fett figure not unlike other recent releases by Entertainment Earth.
It also resembles one of those convention (ooh, remember conventions?) exclusives that pop up from time to time.
Worth a Premium
As such, you can definitely expect to pay a premium for this Gamestop JangoFett toy.
After all, this isn’t something that you can easily grab off the shelf like other characters from the Star Wars galaxy.
And speaking of decos, the company was able to take it up a notch to give this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop exclusive some flair.
At the same time, they kept it in line with the Black Series theme.
A Nice Collector Box
This GamestopJango Fett Gaming Greats toy comes in the trademark window box.
That is similar to other BS figures in their 6” line—at least in so far as we’re talking about the ones similar to regular releases’ packaging.
The box itself stays true to the BS line by, well, being colored black.
That is something that’s way better than the recent metallic themed boxes being released right now.
All in all, you’re going to find that this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop collector figure feels and looks right at home with other BS releases.
Less Than Special
But that same thing that makes this GamestopJango Fett Gaming Greats toy’s box great is also what renders it look rather less than special.
We know, we know: it’s a bit unfair to treat this exclusive Jango Fett figure like it was a more recent exclusive release.
The one that has flaps in front of the box that you can open and close, but it is what it is.
We’re more than inclined to think that Hasbro’s been holding out on us until now.
Still, the packaging doesn’t make or break a toy (for the most part, at least), so this shouldn’t be a huge deal.
Like we said, there are some obvious differences that make this GamestopJango Fett Gaming Greats toy’s box stand out from the regular BS 6” action figure.
For one, this Gaming Great Jango Fett Gamestop toy’s box doesn’t stick with the usual black and red color scheme that’s become the trademark for the toy line.
On any regular BS release, whether it’s a 6” toy, a Star Wars saga or a vehicle collection release, the company uses red fonts on the box’s writings.
And they use a red backing board within the box that supports the figures themselves.
Distinct Color Scheme
This GamestopJango Fett Gaming Greats fig is different, though.
It seems more distinct by opting for a black and light blue color scheme—from the fonts to the backing boards.
The result: the box’s overall design manages to complement the GamestopJango Fett Gaming Greats figure inside and just makes the whole thing more visually appealing.
As per usual, you’re going to find some copy on the back along with all the expected brandings and logos on this Gamestop exclusive.
There’s also a Star Wars Bounty Hunter logo at the lower right area in front of the box.
A Nice Bounty
Popping open this GamestopJango Fett Gaming Greats packaging, you’re going to be treated to the usual clamshell casing that protects these BS figures.
And it does the job well.
There’s no need to worry about scuffs or abrasions here, so you can simply just take the figure right out of its clamshell prison.
At first look, you might think that this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop only comes with a couple of accessories, which are his trademark dual pistols.
But that’s thankfully not the case.
Plenty of Accessories
This is unlike your “run of the mill” clone trooper or regular unhinged Dark Jedi that usually comes with one or two bonus accessories.
This exclusive release manages to justify its status by giving you a relatively generous number of additional things: four of them, to be exact.
First, there are the dual pistols, which you can either have Jango hold in both his bounty hunting mitts or holster on each side of his thighs.
Then, there’s the signature Mandalorian jetpack and helm, respectively.
They are the two things that honestly would have made this a crappy release had they not been included in the package.
An Underrated Icon
You can recreate SW’s most exciting moments and biggest battles with this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop release.
That’s because it’s as screen accurate as you can get as far as Hasbro’s Black Series toys are concerned.
Let’s start with the Mandalorian helm: it’s no surprise that the company did more than a stellar job with the sculpt on this thing.
It is as close to the movie version as possible.
The paint job is no joke as well, since this Mandalorian helm doesn’t suffer from sloppy apps at all.
Then again, the BS line has had a great track record with their Mandalorian helmets in so far as the 6” inch line is concerned.
Careful with the Antennae
If there’s one thing to be careful about, though, it’s the antennae (a.k.a. the targeting system), which can be rather prone to breakage if you’re not careful.
Don’t worry, though: it’s made of PVC, so there’s some give to it.
It’s not as brittle as you’d expect but it’s still one of those things you have to watch out for.
The helmet, thankfully, is detachable from Jango’s head, and one of the best things about this accessory is how nice the fit of it is.
There’s no need to worry about dinging or scuffing Jango’s face sculpt here.
Look at Those Guns!
The Mandalorian has his rifle; Boba has his missile launcher; and Jango, of course, has his dual blasters.
Yeah, yeah: Jango’s not reached the same amount of infamy and popularity as much as his other bounty hunting counterparts in the Star Wars galaxy.
But those accessories are no less iconic if you ask us.
What can we say? We here at Shrunk Collectibles are suckers for science fiction doodads and whatnot!
Going back to Jango’s pistols, it’s nicely sculpted and made entirely of PVC.
That is a good thing considering that like other regular BS releases, the accessories tend to be awkwardly placed in their respective clamshells.
That in turn tends to warp or bend them a bit.
But like we said, they’re made of PVC, so adjusting them to their right position shouldn’t be a problem.
Just apply a bit of heat to them using a hair dryer (remember to set it to low) or dip it in lukewarm water for a few minutes.
Jango’s Dual Blasters
The same thing applies to Jango’s dual blasters, if at all, since you’re most likely going to receive them in proper condition.
The paint job on these blasters is nicely done, too.
They used a dual gun metal gray and silver metallic combo, which is uncommon for BS figures, as they usually opt for single colors for their blasters.
Lastly, there’s Jango’sjetpack.
It’s pretty much the same accessory that you’re getting from the numerous Black Series Boba Fett figures that we’ve had in the past.
One difference is that it’s in a different colorway.
That is to say, you’re going to find that the sculpt on this thing is very serviceable.
It’s got all the little details from the movies as well as a nicely durable construction thanks to the materials they used.
As far as paint apps go, there aren’t any complaints that you can find here.
Hasbro did an awesome job on this jetpack accessory for the Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop toy.
Doesn’t Beat Boba
But if we were to nitpick, though, we have to say that we still prefer Boba’s version.
What with its more weathered look and more visually appealing color scheme.
That’s not a knock against this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop release, though.
It’s more of an issue with Lucas Films and ILM’s overall design for the character.
And come to think of it, it’s also probably why Jango has always lagged behind characters like Boba and The Mandalorian (Din Djarin) in terms of popularity.
Jango Fett simply looks plain.
When it comes to this product’s articulation, it basically shares all the same hinges and joints as all other BS releases out there within the 6” line.
Even better, this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop exclusive action figure is designed so that the accessories don’t hinder any of its articulation points.
And for an older release, Hasbro did a pretty good job in capturing Temuera Morrison’s likeness to come up with something close to the flicks.
It would have been nicer if the PVC on the face sculpt wasn’t so shiny, though.
It could have been more akin to the recent BS releases, but hey—everything’s good!
The paint job on this thing is also marvelous.
We’re basically getting a sort of Boba Fett variant here with a color scheme that’s way easier to apply.
As a result, the paint apps on this thing are just simply amazing: there aren’t any slops or scuffs on it.
It’s this Gaming Greats Jango Fett Gamestop toy’s exquisite features that make this release way better than it should be!
Who is Jango Fett?
For any fan of the Star Wars galaxy, Jango Fett stands as one of the more or less respectable new additions to the whole space opera’s cast.
Taking a peek behind the scenes, you can easily tell that this character was one of Lucas Films’ attempts to recreate a new Boba Fett.
That is to say, a minor character that can manage to gain a high degree of (arguably unwarranted) popularity from the fans.
The results were, well, less than what was desired.
Sure Jango is much better than characters like JarJar Binks or Watto, but he’s more remembered as a fun little novelty than his son.
Father of Boba Fett
Speaking of sons, Jango is Boba Fett’s father.
More specifically, Boba Fett is a clone of Jango, which is not unlike all the clone trooper characters in the prequel movies.
However, Boba stands as one of the rare clones that don’t age rapidly, since Jango wanted a son to call his own.
All in all, Jango Fett might not stand as one of the most popular SW characters around.
But there’s no arguing that he’s one of the most welcome additions to an otherwise boring prequel trilogy.
Hasbro is arguably the world’s largest toy manufacturer right now.
They have licenses for properties that range from Star Wars, My Little Pony, and all the way to Transformers.
When it comes to their Star Wars figures, their Black Series line is considered their topnotch category for toys in this franchise.
Hasbro has been around for decades now, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down either!
Gaming Greats Jango Fett—Our Verdict
With exquisite features all over and some of the best articulation that you can find on any HasbroBlack Series toy, this one is a definite must-have!
Star Wars fans and collectors alike always have something to celebrate when something like this comes around: a figure that’s both nice-looking and actually playable.
As such, this Gaming Greats Jango Fett is something that even people who have an unsavory memory of the prequel trilogies can definitely appreciate.
